::Thursday is Recipe of the Week Day!::

Okie dokie people. For those of you who want to try some new types of food or what not I'll be providing some recipes that I've tried out already. Well this week I'm going to provide you guys a recipe for one of my favorite dishes in the whole wide world! For those of you who like to eat Japanese food, I'm pretty sure you all know what California Rolls are, but if you don't know I thought this would be a fun way to get you guys to try new food, because you'll have the knowledge to make it yourself!

Ingredients Needed:
Nori seaweed (you can purchase this in most Asian markets)
Prepared sushi rice (you can use typical calrose rice, but beware the texture may give you a hard time!)
Crab meat, cut in pieces (imitation crab meat works just as well)
Avocado, peeled and cut in fine pieces
Cucumber, peeled, seeded, and cut in fine strips (if you like you can use carrots as well or totally subsitute them for the cucumber)
Toasted sesame seeds

Directions:
Cut nori sheet in half and put it on a bamboo mat, shiny side down! Make sure to dampen your fingers in water and then spread a thin layer of sushi rice over the seaweed. Do NOT cover the nori sheet completely. Leave a 1-inch margin at the ends uncovered so that you can seal the roll. Now you lay the crabmeat, avocado, and cucumber lengthwise. Sprinkle with sesame seeds to top it off.

To roll: Slowly fold the end of the mat that's closest to you over the filling and tuck it in. Don't use too much pressure, about medium to create a compact tube. Remove the mat from around the roll and press in the loose ends. Place the roll on a cutting board, with the seam side down. Use a sharp and wet knife to slice the roll in half then into 6 equal pieces. You can serve it with wasabi, soy sauce, and pickled ginger.

Serves about 4.
